I trained at a firm in London and qualified as a solicitor in 1994. I joined Tees in 2003 and have spent a large part of my career to date working in and around Cambridge and Bishop’s Stortford. I have a wide breadth of experience in commercial property transactions, acting for corporate clients and individuals.
My workload includes acting for developers of residential and mixed-use schemes, taking transactions from first principles through acquisition, build-out, and disposal. I also deal with planning and infrastructure documentation for such schemes and all aspects of disposals.
I am involved in a number of transactions for agricultural and other land-owning clients, including the purchase and sale of farms and farmland, renewable schemes, and strategic option agreements.
I have extensive experience in landlord-tenant and general commercial property transactions, including corporate support and refinancing.
I can draw on my colleagues’ support in the wider Commercial Property Team and other disciplines to ensure you get the help and advice your matter deserves. I often work closely with colleagues in various other departments, including the Commercial, Employment, Residential Property and Wills Trust Tax and Probate teams, to ensure you seamlessly receive all the help you need in a coordinated way.
I am always happy to discuss any plans or projects on the telephone or in person. I always aim to deliver a service with a commercial, common-sense approach and in a friendly and efficient way.

James Dowson is quick to respond. Gives good commercial practical advice, will pick up the phone to discuss matters. Gets things done.
