Tees Better Future Fund awards grant to Arthur Rank Hospice Charity

Tees is pleased to announce that Arthur Rank Hospice Charity has received a £2,438 grant from the Tees Better Future Fund to support bereavement workshops for children and young people across Cambridgeshire.

The funding will help deliver four quarterly creative therapy workshops for young people aged 10 to 16 who have experienced bereavement. Led by professional Art and Music Therapists, the sessions will provide a safe and supportive environment where participants can express and process grief through activities including clay work, painting, songwriting and group music-making.

The programme builds on the success of a pilot workshop held in April 2025, where every child who attended said they felt able to share their feelings and connect with others facing similar experiences.

The workshops have been developed to address a recognised gap in group bereavement support for young people. They will complement the one-to-one counselling already available through schools and other organisations, helping to ensure more young people can access the support they need.

Around 24 children and young people are expected to benefit from the programme over the next year.

Senior Associate Franki Tubb and relationship manager with the hospice, said:

“We are proud to support Arthur Rank Hospice Charity through the Better Future Fund. Bereavement can have a profound impact on young people, and these workshops will give children a safe space to express themselves, build connections and feel less alone during an incredibly difficult time. We are pleased the fund can help make this important project possible.”

Sophie Wakefield, Art Therapist and Life Celebration Coordinator at Arthur Rank Hospice Charity, said:“We are incredibly grateful to Tees for this funding. We know that young people can often feel isolated in their grief, and these workshops will provide valuable opportunities for creativity, connection and emotional support. The response to our pilot workshop showed just how important this type of group support can be.”

As part of the partnership, Arthur Rank Hospice Charity has also invited Tees employees to support the charity through volunteering opportunities, including gardening days at the Hospice and team volunteering sessions in its charity shops.

The Tees Better Future Fund supports charities and community projects that make a positive difference across the regions where Tees operates.
