Clare Pilsworth

Family Law

Biography

I became a partner at Tees in September 2018, having obtained my qualification in September 2001. I can support clients with a full range of issues arising out of divorce and separation.

My cases cover all aspects of family law, including divorce and separation, children, and financial issues. These issues often involve complex and substantial assets, such as family businesses (including farms) and pensions. I also advise on wealth protection, which includes pre- and post-nuptial agreements.

My clients are often going through very challenging personal situations. My focus is on securing favourable and practical solutions for my clients following the breakdown of their relationship. You can read about our divorce services in Cambridge here.

Delivering what you need

I always prioritise my clients’ needs. I listen to what you want out of the process so that I can advise on the best way to proceed in your circumstances.

My areas of expertise include:

  • The financial effects of separation or divorce: the financial implications of divorce can be complex, such as splitting or protecting pensions and business interests. I help my clients protect their interests and always aim to secure the best possible result in their circumstances. My work has included family businesses (including farms), and complex business or pension arrangements.
  • Arrangements for children after divorce/separation: I advise on arrangements for children after separation to make sure that the Solutions are child focussed.
  • Legal advice before getting married, and legal advice for unmarried couples: I can advise on relationship issues before marriage, to assist with Wealth protection (prenuptial and postnuptial) agreements and cohabitation agreements.

As a family mediator and collaborative solicitor, I can ensure the most client focused approach, which means the approach can be adapted to meet the client’s wishes.

I specialise in family mediation – an alternative to traditional divorce proceedings. Mediation encourages communication between divorcing couples, under the guidance of a specialist mediation solicitor. I have experience advising couples through the mediation process, towards a cost-effective settlement agreement which works for both parties.
