I am a solicitor in the family department at Tees, which is based in the Cambridge office. I have been working in Family law since 2020 and qualified as a Solicitor in March 2023. I advise clients on a range of family matters, including private children’s law, divorce and finances, and cases involving domestic abuse.
I understand that family disputes can be very challenging and emotional. I recognise that clients are often experiencing unfamiliar and daunting circumstances, and seeking help from a solicitor can be overwhelming. I strive to support clients through their experiences and the legal process by providing an empathetic yet pragmatic approach and clear and concise advice throughout.
I seek to resolve disputes constructively and practically by considering alternative methods of dispute resolution where possible and appropriate. I aim to handle matters cost-effectively and efficiently, keeping my clients involved and informed throughout.
I collaborate with colleagues, both within the family team and other departments within Tees, to provide clients with seamless service.

Amber Kennedy is an accomplished lawyer, approachable, pragmatic and sensible.

I am a Membership Officer for the Cambridge & West Suffolk branch of Resolution, actively maintaining and encouraging participation in Resolution. Resolution is an organisation that promotes a non-confrontational approach to family law issues. I am a Mediation Champion, which means I am committed to helping people use mediation to reduce conflict during separation. I often advise clients throughout this process. I volunteer with the Cambridge Acorn Project and the Anglia Ruskin University Law Clinic.
I studied Law at the University of Southampton, graduating in 2018 with a First-Class Honours Degree (LLB). I then completed my Legal Practice Course (LPC) and a Master’s in Professional Legal Practice (LLM) at the University of Law in Guildford, obtaining a high Distinction. I worked as a Paralegal in family law at a high-street law firm before commencing my training contract. During my training contract, I spent an extended period in family law and gained experience in private clients and conveyancing.
In my spare time, I enjoy going for dog walks and cooking. I am an avid football fan and often travel up and down the country to watch matches on a weekend.
“Amber Kennedy looks after clients and their interests in a way which belies her years of qualification. She is hardworking, pragmatic, and able to identify which issues clients need to focus on to progress their case and secure a favourable outcome. Amber has worked on complex financial matters and children matters and has managed these adeptly.” Legal 500 UK, East Anglia – Private Client – Family 2025
