Laura Robertson-Hayes

Senior Associate

Medical Negligence

Biography

I am a dedicated medical negligence solicitor committed to improving the lives of clients who’ve suffered life changing injuries.

I qualified in 2017 after training in medical negligence at a regional firm in Oxfordshire. In 2019, I moved to a firm in London where I specialised in Child Brain Injury claims before joining Tees as a Senior Associate in December 2025.

I have extensive brain injury experience and have represented a number of clients (largely children) who’ve suffered catastrophic brain injuries caused by a range of issues including negligent obstetric care, delays in diagnoses of tumours, strokes, infections and road traffic accidents.

In addition to my brain injury experience, I have acted for clients on a variety of cases including surgical, gynaecological, stillbirth and neonatal death, psychiatric injury and spinal injury claims.

I particularly enjoy working for children and young people, supporting both them and their families through the litigation process. In addition, having worked for many families who’ve been impacted by negligent obstetric and midwifery care, I am driven to raise awareness of issues through my work to try and improve maternity services.
I regularly work on complex cases. Examples include:

  • Representing a teenager who’d experienced a stroke which went undiagnosed, the case settled for over £10 million.
  • Acting for a young person who’d suffered brain damage secondary to a chronic partial hypoxic ischaemic insult during their mother’s labour, the case settled for £15 million.
  • Achieving £130,000 for a mother who’d lost her baby hours after birth and suffered infertility.
  • Acting for a mother who’d developed PTSD after the traumatic birth of her daughter achieving a settlement of £30,000.
  • Settling liability in a child brain injury case which involved a delay in diagnosis and treatment of raised intracranial pressure and securing interim payments of compensation to purchase accommodation and provide the Claimant with specialised care.
  • Settling a child’s claim for £1.1 million with additional lifetime annual payments to provide that child with 24 hour care.
