Tees Better Future Fund supports Viva Arts and Community Group to open up conversations about end-of-life

The Tees Better Future Fund has awarded a £5,000 grant to Viva Arts and Community Group to host a series of events in Soham at Good Grief Soham. Good Grief Soham aims to create a community of support for those dealing with grief, and to help attendees access support and resources available to them.

These community gatherings will also create a safe and welcoming space for people of all ages to come together, share experiences, and talk openly about death, dying and bereavement. The aim is to reduce fear, challenge taboos, and build stronger connections across the local community.

Janine Collier, Co-Head of ESG at Tees, said:

“Viva’s proposal for Good Grief offers a compassionate space for people to talk about something that affects us all but is often avoided. Viva’s approach promotes emotional wellbeing, resilience, and intergenerational understanding; values that align powerfully with the goals of the Tees Better Future Fund.”

“The project builds on Viva’s existing community work and addresses local interest in end-of-life topics following their past productions exploring similar themes. Sessions will be inclusive and accessible, with expert facilitators guiding discussions in a non-judgmental atmosphere.”

The launch event for Viva’s Good Grief will take place on Tuesday 7 October 2025 at the Viva Arts & Community Centre in Soham.
