How can I help you?
I am an associate in the Family Department at Tees, based in the Bishops Stortford office.
I started working in family law in 2014. I advise and represent clients on a range of family matters, including private law children, divorce and finances, cohabitation matters, including cases brought under the Trusts of Land and Appointment of Trustees Act 1996 and Schedule 1 Children Act proceedings, prenuptial agreements and cases involving domestic violence.
Delivering what you really need
I am particularly experienced when dealing with cases involving arrangements for children and Children Act applications, often with sensitive and complex issues. I have previous experience working on public law children matters (care cases), so I understand the nuances and technicalities of cases where Social Services have become involved. I understand that this can be an extremely worrying time for parents, so I will support you in deciding how best to approach the issues, both from a legal stance and emotionally when trying to work with the other parent for the best of your child.
I am also experienced in advising on financial matters, both in the context of married spouses and civil partners, as well as cohabiting couples.
Clients appreciate my attentiveness to their cases and my caring and supportive approach in what are often extremely difficult circumstances. I am proactive and personable while always being aware of proportionality and costs. I am experienced in conducting advocacy, so I can also represent you at court if appropriate and required.
What else should you know?
I studied History with Sociology at the University of Leeds, graduating in 2013. I went on to complete the Graduate Diploma in Law (the law conversion course) before starting my career in family law, working as a paralegal at a leading child specialist firm in London. I then studied the LPC with the LLM in Professional Legal Practice at the University of Law in Bloomsbury, achieving a Distinction in 2019 before joining Tees in 2021.
I trained at a highly recognised law firm, working in their London and Bath offices. I spent an extended seat in the family law department in Bath, and also gained experience in commercial and property litigation, charity and education law. This provided me with an all rounded training and is valuable experience and knowledge. Following qualification and prior to joining Tees, I worked at a leading, specialist family law firm in the City.
I am a member of Resolution and promote a non-confrontational approach to family law issues.

Casework:
"I acted for the wife in the reported case of ND v LD (financial remedy: needs) [2022] EWFC B15, which involved a rarely reported Deputy District Judge decision in a modest asset case. It involved using special measures before and during the hearing and looked at housing needs in light of the state benefits and the division of a modest pension".
