Tees has the kind of work that people think only happens in London. Lucy is now frequently involved in high-end quality transactions, either handling these independently or working collaboratively with the head of department. She has significant responsibility and is not just bag-carrying; she is constantly learning and being challenged in a friendly and supportive environment. Lucy has a varied caseload and is not pigeon-holed into dealing with repetitive, mundane transactions. 

For example, in our commercial property team we do plenty of land development deals which are worth tens of millions of pounds. One example is our client BP Lightsource - one of the UK leaders in solar energy, for whom we do multiple solar farm land deals.

Our private client team don’t just do simple wills; a big proportion of the work is on highly complex, estate management and finance issues. These clients are wealthy farming families, who are often selling off pieces of land in commercial deals and there is plenty of collaboration across different legal and financial teams.

Our technology-based business model

Law firms often say the client is at the heart of everything they do, but while that may well be their intention, in reality, a lot of them are traditional law firms, without the modern technology to make that a possibility to deliver in a reliable way. In recent years Tees has undergone a vast business process re-engineering project to put technology - and clients - genuinely at the heart of the business.

We are delighted to have been announced as a finalist in the Technology Team of the Year Category for the ‘British Legal Technology Awards 2022’

The key to the approach is to speed up the process by taking the admin away from the lawyers. This gives them the freedom to do what they do best - focus on the client and give top legal advice - after all that’s why they wanted to be lawyers.

We have a well-trained, efficient central services team to do the admin tasks and dedicate time for interacting with clients, giving them the updates, support and reassurance that clients love.

We’ve created a mathematical business model which, along with the administrative support structure in place and a culture which encourages a healthy work lifestyle balance, ensures our lawyers can succeed, without having to work extended hours.  Blended working is in place and we support our employees with the necessary IT kit to be able to make it easy to work both from the office and from home.
